Sure, maybe I forgot something obvious.

Yup, only SCSI--no USB on a 715/50 ;-)

No. This is the ioscan output:
2/0/1 ext_bus Built-in SCSI
2/0/1.2 target
2/0/1.2.0 disk TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-3601TA
2/0/1.3 target
2/0/1.3.0 tape HP C1533A
2/0/1.4 target
2/0/1.4.0 unknown EPSON Perfection1640
2/0/1.5 target
2/0/1.5.0 disk QUANTUM VP32210
2/0/1.6 target
2/0/1.6.0 disk IBM DDRS-34560
2/0/1.7 target
2/0/1.7.0 ctl Initiator
I.e., the scanner is on ID 4.

As far as I can see... The only non-comment line says
scsi /dev/scanner
/dev/scanner is a link to /dev/rscsi/c0t4d0, which is a device file
for the SCSI pass-thru driver (sctl):
# lssf /dev/rscsi/c0t4d0
sctl card instance 0 SCSI target 4 SCSI LUN 0 at address ??? /dev/rscsi/c0t4d0

Not yet... I just checked out the CVS version and I'll try it.

I'll report how it goes with the CVS version.
