Please send a debug log (I usually like to do something along the lines of

> setenv SANE_DEBUG_MICROTEK 128 ; xscanimage >& dump.txt

from tcsh (and then try a single color scan).

I just got a patch for the StudioStar -- maybe it's got similar problems.
