    Hi all...

I've been trying to get a Microtek V6UPL to work under kernel 2.4.3 and
    the
latest sane backends, with a modicum of success... :-)

I have the microtek kernel module installed, allowing the use of the sg
device to access the USB scanner (I did have to hack the module to get
it to recognize the UPL as opposed to the USL).

Vuescan is able to then scan from the scanner perfectly.

I modified the microtek2 backend to recognize the UPL (id=0xb6) and was
    able
to get xscanimage to do a preview and a scan, but unfortunately not with
    the lamp on... :-)

The lamp came on for calib without a problem, but as soon as the scan
head started to move for the actual scan (pre or final) it wold turn off
    the light.

It also appears that the scan unit itself was not sending valid data,
since I opened the lid at one point during a scan, and there was no
difference in the image - all was black..

Any pointers as to where to look? (Sorry, I am not at the machine with
the scanner - my wife likes to use that one for windows, and this one
has no usb so I can't test the system on this one... Thus, I can't get
    you the logs right now....)

    Thanks!

    Kris
