Bingo. That's exactly where I have my immediate problem. I get a small
colour offset between R, G and B. Whilst I could fix it by forcing
adjustments that suit my scanner, I would rather understand the original
author's intentions and do it right. I don't understand what his changes are
trying to achieve. E.g. is the "#ifdef OBSOLETE" code really obsolete and to
be removed? This includes the bit that interrogates the scanner for the
colour offsets. I'm puzzled about his intentions.

The colour offset isn't my only problem, but its the one that stops the code
being useful. The scanner seems to get into some kind of screwed up state
from time to time, but that's a second tier issue.

If Kevin really has gone to a better place - more money, less scanner making
nasty noises as they hit the end-stops, you know the kind of thing - maybe
its time for someone else to pick up the gauntlet.

    All the best,
    Steve
