Absolutely. All parallel port (USB, Firewire, and SCSI, too) devices will
be supported in the future as long as their owners or their vendors are
willing to write drivers. ;^)

Seriously, some of the developers are making headway with certain parallel
port scanners. I'm sure the lessons learned from those can (and will be)
applied to other ports in the future.

The only thing I can ask you to do for now is to wait or to buy one of the
supported SCSI scanners. (Sorry.)
