my scanner (Mustek 6000SP) used to work well under
linux (2.0.35, SUSE) with a AHA1492-SCSI-adapter
and the sane-mustek backend.

now after not using it for quite a while i turned
the scanner on, and started the computer
the scsi-device was detected ... i.e.
'less /prov/scsi/scsi' says:

Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 06 Lun: 00
Vendor: SCANNER Model: Rev: 1.00
Type: Scanner ANSI SCSI revision: 01 CCS

just as it did when the scanner still worked.

giving the command 'xscanimage' nothing happens at all

when i say 'xscanimage /dev/sg0' a window opens saying:

'failed to open device /dev/sg0 invalid argument'

i did not change any hardware components since the scanner
worked the last time nor did i install any software
which one could expact to interfere with a scanner-device

if anyone has got an idea, what the reason could be
for this desaster please tell me !

thanx in advanxe

mic
