appreciate your work in the sane project.
About the UMAX scanner. Since
a) the scsi card that comes with it is not supported by Linux,
and you have to buy a separate scsi card >= $50. (No,
most people here in the USA do NOT have an scsi card in
contrast to Germany, where people seem to be crazy about
them ... )
and
b) you need to by an new cable that will fit with it >= $30
( which incidentally is hard to find )
The UMAX, while otherwise a great scanner ( it appears ) is a bad
choice, you can get for the same price ~ $200 get an E6 with an
Adaptec card that should work fine.
It would really be great if you could mention such things on the
Web page. It took me almost 2 weeks to prod this information out
of you guys. By putting this information up on the web site,
you would make it much easier for people to orient oneself.
