If you take a look at
http://www.mostang.com/sane/sane-umax.html

(there is a link to it from http://www.mostang.com/sane)

you will find:
------------------------ CUT & PASTE ---------------------------------------------------------
SCSI ADAPTER TIPS:

The SCSI-adapters that are shipped with some Umax-scanner are not supported by Linux and
most other platforms, so you typically need to purchase another SCSI-adapter that is supported
by your platform. See the relevant hardware FAQs and HOWTOs for your platform for more
information. Also, we recommend to connect Umax scanners to their own SCSI controller since
otherwise, the devices on the same SCSI bus as the scanner cannot be accessed while a scan is in
progress.
-------------------------- END HERE --------------------------------------------------------------

There sould be no great problem with a scsi-cable, because the scanner has a
50 pin centronix connector, that is the "normal" connector for scsi!

If there is no terminator delivered with the scanner, you should buy one, best would
be a 25-pin-sub-d-active terminator, but that should be no great problem, too!

Bye
Oliver
