OK, I finally put together sane-0.66. It's available in the usual
places. See http://www.mostang.com/sane/source.html for details.

What's New?

- the UMAX backend has been updated (thanks to Oliver Rauch)
- the Epson backend has been updated (thanks to Kazuhiro Sasayama)
- the Mustek backend has a few additional hacks to work around
problems reported with some scanners (see sane-mustek(5) for details)
- various minor bug fixes (in particular, the Linux problems with
shared libs should be fixed now...)

Note that both the UMAX and the Mustek backend were changed to do away
completely with compile-time configuration. This means that one and
the same binary should now work for any UMAX and/or Mustek scanner,
which should make binary distribution more useful.

IMPORTANT: If you own a Mustek scanner, please be sure to read the
instructions in sane-mustek(5) on what the mustek.conf file should
look like (it may also be useful to look at the sample configuration
file in backend/mustek.conf).

If you build and test SANE on a platform whose entry in
http://www/sane/support.html is not up-to-date, please send me the
relevant info so I can update those entries.

Enjoy,
