Dear All and especially Abel Deuring
I took Abel's advice and commented out the following lines from the
Acard 6712 driver (atp870u.c) located about line 630 in the 2.4.0-
test10 kernel sources. See attached source.
if (ata_cdbu[h][0] == 0x12) {
if (workrequ->request_bufflen > 0x24) {
workrequ->request_bufflen = 0x24;
ata_cdbu[h][4] = 0x24;
}
And guess what xsane and xscanimage loaded without any
problem. I must state that I am still waiting for a terminator but I
could scan an image except I was getting rubbish at the start in
the image - I suspect that this may be due to the lack of
termination. Also my system did not lock up at any time doing test
scans etc.
Who knows the correct procedure to pass this message on to the
scsi maintainers so that they may examine the code and see if it
should be added into the kernel sources.
I am willing to undertake further testing of programs.
Thanks to all
Stephen Carr
