If I remember correctly, the mailing list is blocking non-subscribers
from posting messages. This is done to avoid spam reaching the
mailing list.
I suspect this is a major blocker for many of willing SANE
contributors. At least, I have asked at least a handfull of people to
send their patch and suggestions to the list, and never seen their
contribution.
I disovered today that the blocking behaviour isn't described on the
mailing list web page, <URL:http://www.mostang.com/sane/mail.html>. I
suggest at least adding a paragraph with a warning for those like me
is reading the mailing list on the web.
When talking with David earlier, he mentioned that most of his time
spent on SANE was used maintaining the mailing list. I'm not sure,
but I suspect most of it was used bouncing legitimate postings from
non-subscribers into the list. If someone wants to help him by moving
some of the load from his shoulders, parhaps we would both get a
better mailing list and more access to Davids valuable time. :-)
