Yes! That's what i was looking for. I knew I've read something about
it in some of the sane's docs, but couldn't find it again when I
needed it.

It's enabled and it seems like I can't disable it either.

"camcontrol negotiate pass3 -D disable -v" tells me:

Current Parameters:
(pass3:amd0:0:6:0): sync parameter: 0
(pass3:amd0:0:6:0): offset: 0
(pass3:amd0:0:6:0): bus width: 8 bits
(pass3:amd0:0:6:0): disconnection is enabled
(pass3:amd0:0:6:0): tagged queueing is disabled
amd0: SIM/HBA version: 1
amd0: supports tag queue messages
amd0: supports SDTR message
amd0: HBA engine count: 0
amd0: maxium target: 7
amd0: maxium LUN: 7
amd0: highest path ID in subsystem: 0
amd0: SIM vendor: FreeBSD
amd0: HBA vendor: TRM-AMD
amd0: bus ID: 0
amd0: base transfer speed: 0KB/sec

Yes it is.

>- the cable length is correct (<=150cm if a ultra scsi device is connected).

Well, one of the disks is ultra and the bus is a bit longer than
150cm, but I think that's not the real problem.

Anyway, I connected the scanner to my old AHA-1542B now and it works
ok so far. Even without termination on one side of the bus, cos I lost
the resistors :-)

"camcontrol negotiate pass3 -v" says now:

Current Parameters:
(pass3:aha0:0:6:0): sync parameter: 0
(pass3:aha0:0:6:0): offset: 0
(pass3:aha0:0:6:0): bus width: 8 bits
aha0: SIM/HBA version: 1
aha0: supports SDTR message
aha0: HBA engine count: 0
aha0: maxium target: 7
aha0: maxium LUN: 7
aha0: highest path ID in subsystem: 0
aha0: SIM vendor: FreeBSD
aha0: HBA vendor: Adaptec
aha0: bus ID: 0
aha0: base transfer speed: 3.300MB/sec

Btw, could the "base transfer speed: 0KB/sec" above be a problem? I
used to get this at bootup before:

pass3 at amd0 bus 0 target 6 lun 0
pass3: <UMAX Astra 600S V1.2> Fixed Scanner SCSI-2 device
pass3: 3223547.580MB/s transfers

Now THAT's a fast scanner, what? :-)

It looks normal on the Adaptec now:

pass3 at aha0 bus 0 target 6 lun 0
pass3: <UMAX Astra 600S V1.2> Fixed Scanner SCSI-2 device
pass3: 3.300MB/s transfers

Thank you for your answer and happy 2000 everyone

Andi
