plustek parallel port scanner...

I have the sane distribution as well as the plustek parallel port
backend. both compiled and installed easily, and the backend loaded
nicely. no problem. the device /dev/pt_drv was created. so far so
good. I can't get any information from the device, scanimage ignores
it, and I'm not getting ANY devices (even the..ah...the "fake"
devices). scanimage -L gives me nothing, and scanimage -d /dev/pt_drv
tells me I gave an invalid argument. so does scanimage -d
plustek:/dev/pt_drv

Please give me a hand with this...
I don't know what information you might need beyond this, but tell me
what it is and a short explanation of what to do to get it and I'll send
it...

this is my FINAL hardware difficulty with Linux...the last thing I need
to do to break free of M$'s stranglehold on my system. Please help me
anyone...you're my only hope...(yes, I should be smacked for
that...please disregard the last sentence)
