Hi Sebastian,

there is no problem running two scanners under linux.
1) /dev/scanner is not needed at all
2) you have to add the device in the backend's configuration file,
eg /usr/local/etc/sane.d/umax.conf
3) you need read and write access to both devices (e.g. chmod 666 /dev/sgx
where x are your scanner deives)
