You could try to set 'option no-backtrack-option on' in the
microtek2.conf file. This will enable an option in the frontend that
allows to disable the forward and backward moves, but probably the scanner will
still stop and go during a scan.

No, currently this line doesn't mean anything

OK, however not during the next few weeks, due to lack of an
appropriate system to work on the sources.
