I have been kinda busy lately and out of town for a while so I haven't
had a chance to reply to any of your ?10? couple-hundred-line emails. :-)
Since you say that the scanner is locking up during calibration, have
you tried telling the frontend NOT to do the calibration. There is an
option to disable calibration. I believe it is under the Advanced Options
in Xscanimage, but it should display in scanimage if you list the options.
Try this, after setting the environment variables that Andreas mentioned
and redirecting the debugging output to a file. Email me the file if it
doesn't work and I'll take a look at your ouput. It may be that the
calibration method doesn't work on your model AT3 even though it does on
mine.
