I did a quick search on dejanews regarding this 35mm-lightlid adapter,
and found at least one interesting thread. The subject was
"Quick Microtek X6 question" in comp.periphs.scanners.

Basically it is possible to turn off the lamp of the flatbed, but when
I tried this a while ago, the device silently turned on the lamp again,
when a scan was initiated. I'll see if I can do something, but have
not much hope.
