sorry, I will never tell that HPs parallel port scanners are not
supported.

For those who are now searching the list. It was "HP Scan Jet 5100",
15th Feb.99, Paul S. Aspinwall. The reference was
http://www2.prestel.co.uk/hex/scanners.html.
The EPST-driver which is necessary can be picked up from
http://www.torque.net/parport/parscsi.html
The timeouts that need to be increased to make it work with the
HP ScanJet 5100C could be EPST_TMO and EPST_LOOP. If someone
is really using the 5100C with SANE, please report
which values to use. I could not find it here.
I have added a hint for support of the 5100 C to my homepage.
