HP Scanjet 4p / HP400A Scsi Card

I have a problem concerning a HP Scanjet 4p with an HP400A Scsi Card.
On the Card I found

SYMBIOS LOGIC
53C400A

So I compiled a kernel with low level Scsi support for 53C400A and tried both
port and memory mapped. But linux did not recognise the Card.

Do you have any suggestions ?
