what is documented (or at least what i have found) is that trying to scan
beyond the available height will cause problems because mustek scanners do
not check for maximum height, nevertheless the documentation goes on that
this should not happen for know models (like mine). but this is not the
problem (setting some maximum range), the problem is that without
backtracking (10 times slower than without) the scanner actually does more
scanning that told (and the image is distorted due to this fact).
