Linux handscanner backend ?

Is it true that there isn't a SANE backend driver for Linux hand scanner
interface, as used by at least Genius and Logitech scanner drivers?

Is one being developed?

I'd like to help but I have too little time for coding. However, I
volunteer to beta test possible drivers.

Btw: anyone maintaining, or knowing who maintains, Genius GS-B105G
grayscale handheld scanner? I'll start maintaining it if there will be no
other maintainers.
