I have the same problem, and blue and green components have
swapped places (green is blue and blue is green).

Mustek backend reports:
[mustek] line_distance: got res=75, (r/g/b)=(0/4/2)
[mustek] color_sequence: (0/2/1)

Can one set these parameters manually?

BTW, I'm running version 0.74 of SANE.

The sticker on the side of the box said "Supported Platforms:
Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, or better", so clearly Linux was
a supported platform.
