Can we use SANE with the scanners provided with TWAIN drivers ?

Hi,

I have recently installed sane 0.73 on my PC with Redhat linux 4.2 and
kernel version 2.0.30.

LEO scan S3 scanner comes with a DTC3181E scsi-II scanner (SCSI-II
interface similar to what is shipped with Mustek). TWAIN drivers are
provided for Win95.

I could load the scsi-II driver. Also, when I cat the /proc/scsi/scsi
it shows LEO Scan S3 version 3.01 scanner (not in the same format).
This message would not be here if everything worked well.

I have few questions:

1. Can I use these scanners, which are originally provided with TWAIN
drivers in Win95, with SANE backend and scanimage frontend ?

2. Was the above trial (SANE with ...) successful with either MUSTEK
or UMAX scanners ?

Here is some information, if this information would help:

the utility find-scanner with -v option, stays at
"searching:/dev/scanner"
and never returns to the shell prompt.

Also, scanimage -L, has the same problem, it never returns to shell
prompt. I feel it is in a loop, it could smell a scanner but cannot find
one.

I sincerely appreciate some help in this regard.
