I developed the sane solaris support with a HP scanner. These are good
quality and have a good SCSI implementation.
Some scanners use user-sepcific commands in a way the solaris kernel
does not expect. This logs annoying error messages during a scan (e.g.
UMAX), some elder scanners (Microtek Scanmaker III) did not work at all.
(I say 'did', because the backend has been changed meanwhile, leaving out
the "mode_sense_1" command. I don't know if it works now).
A Mustek Paragon 1200SP brings with sane-0.72 horizontal coloured lines
in color scans.
More I don't know.
