I would suggest 2 possible improvements to xscanimage:
1/ make possible to fix required size (in bytes) of the
product-image and have the resolution calculated as function of the
size in (cm/inch)^2
2/ let the user enqueue all the requests --- selected portions from
the preview area and scan them all together in the end.
I tried to implement the 1st some 3 months ago, but the sources are
not well documented ... I would welcome some help.
I have an HP 4c scanner and it doesn't work very good with sane. After
several scans it hangs (not the system) ---- syslog says:
kernel: scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 64793, scsi0, \
channel 0, id 6, lun 0 Read (6) 00 00 80 00 00
kernel: SCSI host 0 abort (pid 64793) timed out - resetting
.... for some minutes, sometimes it is possible to proceed.
I tried another scanner --- Trust 4800 (trademark) / Mustek
MFC-06000CZ v2.00 (model) and it worked a bit better (I could allways
proceed after the hang), but it hanged regularly on every 6/7th scan.
Configuration: linux 2.0.33 (tried with 2.1.95 too --- no improvement)
with sg.h patched (SG_BIG_BUFF 130560) sane-72
Thanks.
