I think the following may be the problem:
From a mail from Doug Gilbert:
| In the file sane-backends-1.0.4/sanei/linux_sg3_err.h
| comment out (or remove) the line:
| #include <linux/../scsi/sg.h>
Or use an unofficial snapshot from
http://www.meier-geinitz.de/sane/download.html . This is fixed in CVS
and the fix will be in SANE 1.0.5.
