    Perhaps a silly question from a colour amateur: Would it be possible
    to print a couple of colour squares (full red, green, blue, or
    magenta, cyan, yellow, black) and scan them in? Then you know at
    least how to adjust the colour data to make the print look like
    the original.

    The impression from a monitor depends much on the lighting in the
    environment. Furthermore, I find it difficult enough to reproduce
    a simple gray scale well, let alone all the colours ...
