xscanimage under GIMP with V4L

        I'm currently running sane 1.04 with GIMP 1.2. When scanning from
        V4L devices, the plugin crashes with the obligatory:

        "Plug-In crashed: "scanimage"
        (/usr/local/lib/gimp/1.2/plug-ins/xscanimage)

        The dying Plug-In may have messed up GIMP's internal state, etc."

        I have two V4L devices in my system (a Matrox Rainbow Runner-G
        capture card and a Creative WebCam III USB), both of which work
        properly with other V4L applications. The plug-in worked properly
        with CVS versions of xscanimage from a few moths ago. (Please tell
        me how to generate some debug info so I may post it to the list.)

        Any suggestions?

        System:
        SuSE Linux 6.4 on an SMP i686 with kernel 2.4.0 (release), SANE
        1.04, GIMP 1.2, XF86 4.0.2, Matrox G400 with RRG, and Creative
        WebCam III USB (using ov511).
