Hi Guys!
I didn't find an answer to this problem in the documentation or the
mailing-archives of the last months ...
After updating from SuSE Linux 6.4 to 7.0 my (girlfriend's) scanner doesn't
work (properly) any more.
Before that I had no problem with it (and I was quit proud that is was
running under Linux and under w2000 it is not). Now if I start a scan it
takes some 10 - 15 Minutes until the scan starts. During that time the
system is nearly blocked. With some patience I can log in on another console
and terminate the process. If I don’t terminate it, the scan itself works
later on at the normal speed, as far as I could tell.
Even listing the connected scanners with
scanimage -L
blocks the system.
Despite that
cat /proc/scsi/scsi
displays the scanner immediately.
Its an HP ScanJet 6100 C connected to a Symbios 53C416 SCSI Card.
Kernel is of Version 2.2.16, modified by SuSE. USB or other modules I don't
need are not loaded.
SuSE does probably not use the latest Version, but I didn't find anything
about the problem in the changelog of the last releases.
Any hints?
Ciao,
Ingo Wichmann
