    I have been unsuccessful at getting this scanner to work. My current
    system:

      Software:
        RedHat 6.0
        Linux Kernel 2.2.5-15
        sane 1.0.3

      Hardware:
        ncr 53c875 scsi card --
           [root@k2 sane-1.0.3]# cat /proc/scsi/ncr53c8xx/0
           General information:
             Chip NCR53C875, device id 0xf, revision id 0x3
             IO port address 0xd800, IRQ number 12
             Using memory mapped IO at virtual address 0xc400e000
             Synchronous period factor 12, max commands per lun 32
           Profiling information:
             num_trans = 574
             num_kbytes = 7
             num_disc = 0
             num_break = 24
             num_int = 563
             num_fly = 574
             ms_setup = 50
             ms_data = 210
             ms_disc = 0
             ms_post = 30

        Epson ES-300C (GT6000) Scanner using SCSI connection:
           [root@k2 sane-1.0.3]# ./tools/find-scanner
           find-scanner: found processor "EPSON SC ANNER GT-6000 2.01" at
                   device /dev/scanner

           Dip Switches:
               Block 1: on,on,on,on,off,off,off,off
               Block 2: on,off,off,off,off,on,on,off

    When I run scanimage or xscanimage I get the following error:
       [epson] ident failed
    and the program hangs (doesn't crash or dump core). The "Ready" light on
    the scanner goes of and "E-1" is displayed in the scanner LCD (Interface
    Error).

    [root@k2 sane-1.0.3]# xscanimage 2>&1 | tee log
    [sanei_debug] Setting debug level of epson to 5.

    Any feedback would be appreciated. The only other thing on the scsi bus is
    an internal scsi zip drive.
