    Agreed. And to ensure conflict-free access to a device, the SCSI
    commands "Reserve Unit" and "Release Unit" can be used, if they are
    supported. (Ok, I must admit that I'm writing "pure theoy" -- I didn't
    use them in the Sharp backend...)
