    Oliver,

    I got my scanner working but had to comment out the following line in
    the file backend/snapscan-usb.c

    Line # 196: in subroutine usb_close

    /* semctl(sem_id, 0, IPC_RMID, 0); */

    I don't know what this statement does but this was just trial and error.
