Henning,
Thank you for you help.
I had another go at getting SANE to work on the weekend.
My problem was I had the 2.2.14 source installed, but I am only
running a 2.2.12 kernel. I can now compile it, but I cannot get
scanimage to recognise my scanner. This is the same problem I was
having with the RPM. I am definitely compiling and installing the
snapscan backend, and find-scanner recognises that the scanner is
connected to /dev/scanner, dev/sg2 and /dev/sgc.
Would there be a problem with the id string that the scanner is sending?
Is it possible that the snapscan backend soesn't recognise it as a snapscan?
The output from findscanner is as follows.
find-scanner: found scanner "AGFA SnapScan 1.10" at device /dev/scanner
find-scanner: found scanner "AGFA SnapScan 1.10" at device /dev/sg2
find-scanner: found scanner "AGFA SnapScan 1.10" at device /dev/sgc
can you or anyone else help with this?

Hi,
[output from make]

Maybe the kernel includes (or the kernel source) is not installed?
Bye,
Henning
