I'm currently using the default Mandrake 7.0 package which is
sane-1.0.1-8mdk

I've downloaded sane-1.0.2.tar.gz, which I'll try next. Presumably this
has the latest version of the Epson backend in it? As I recall, the
version I had going before was 1.0.
