I had sane 1.0.1 installed.

You are right, the TPU covers a smaller area than the base of
the scanner. I relate to the largest size that is possible for
contact-prints.

But this doesn't run with the new coolscan-Backend from Andreas
Rick, I have a "new" Coolscan.

I found it. If with or without your patch, the result is the same since 1.0.2. My
233MHz computer has an Adaptec AHA-2940A SCSI-Controller.
A 600dpi-scan in color and 600dpi-scan in greyscale
is impossible, because it takes you 10 minutes.
But I remember of Kevins Mini-Patch "src-0.8.tgz" from Oct 21, 1999.
I copied the files into 1.0.2, and patched it with your
snapscantpo.patch. It works normally.
