I think you are correct! I reverted to 1.0.1 and it works again. Here
is the last bit of truss output, to be compared against my earlier mail:
[snip]
open("/usr/local/etc/sane.d/umax.conf", O_RDONLY) = 4
fstat64(4, 0xFFBEF4F8) = 0
ioctl(4, TCGETA, 0xFFBEF484) Err#25 ENOTTY
read(4, " s c s i U M A X *\n".., 8192) = 23
open("/dev/scg2", O_RDWR|O_EXCL) = 5
ioctl(5, 0xC06C4701, 0xFFBEF320) = 0
brk(0x00028F80) = 0
brk(0x00030F80) = 0
ioctl(5, 0xC06C4701, 0xFFBEF268) = 0
ioctl(5, 0xC06C4701, 0xFFBEF268) = 0
close(5) = 0
read(4, 0x00025794, 8192) = 0
llseek(4, 0, SEEK_CUR) = 23
close(4) = 0
ioctl(1, TCGETA, 0xFFBEEE2C) = 0
device `umax:/dev/scg2f' is a UMAX Astra 1200S flatbed scanner
write(1, " d e v i c e ` u m a x".., 72) = 72
munmap(0xFF0F8000, 14648) = 0
munmap(0xFF0D0000, 106361) = 0
llseek(0, 0, SEEK_CUR) = 158837
llseek(3, 0, SEEK_CUR) = 0
_exit(0)
So it looks like the SCSI support for the UMAX backend at least was
broken on this platform in 1.0.2. I'd be glad to help debug or test any
fixes.
