I'm not sure the kernel version has that much to do with it. I'm running
sane/xsane on a dual P-II 450mHz using kernel 2.2.12-20smp. I'm reluctant
to change kernel releases because the Adaptec 7890 SCSI driver that came
with this one *works* without tweaking.
Could the problem be in the driver module? Or device permissions, perhaps?
I had to chmod 777 /dev/sgd to make xsane see it. That is probably a
security issue, but I was frustrated. I have it working both as stand-alone
and as a plugin for The GIMP.
