I checked the last file, and it looks just fine:

BTW: Why do you change the shared/static defaults? It should not be
required, as shared is enabled by default, and the static libraries
should not do any harm.

Posting the error-lines from the build to the mailinglist (sane-devel)
should be sufficent and give more people the possibility to help you.
Which file is the build bailing out on?
