scanimage --list-devices will only list a back-end that recognises a scanner. If
the scanner is connected to a different device that the back-end is looking for,
then scanimage --list-devices will not see it, but find-scanner will. If
find-scanner doesn't see the device, then you've got other problems. If your
kernel reports a SCSI scanner device during boot-up, then find-scanner should
see it.
