it moves in a single pass after a few movments near the top which seem to be
some kind of initialization. the banding problems also appear in greyscale, did
not
notice them since they dont show up in the preview.
i remember the scanner working fine on another machine (running NT and
photoshop)
ill try again on that one and on irix with sane 1.0.1
