If you only have fast scsi devices that is the maximum allowed length,
if you have an ultra scsi device connected that may be too long. If possible
try with a shorter length.
Is the scsi controller terminated? It has to be (may be automatic termination).
Is the driver for your scsi controller up to date?
Is disconnect reconnect disabled?
