Ijust got mine 1220s this week, and I am very happy. It works in Linux and windoz. I run it using my adaptec 2905 card, the card I put in to run a zip drive. It scans a 6x4 color pix (full color scan) in less than 30 seconds. Anyone have a faster run. I am happy !! The scan s/w for windoz is good, and I can use GIMP in Linux by pointing to my gimp plugins directory.

I believe the light goes off by itself after you leave it alone for a while.
