Autofocus is not enabled. I never even looked at the advanced options
before, but this time I did. When I try to scan, the system locks up,
no mouse, no keyboard. One of my (SCSI) hard drive's lights remains
continuously lit.

I have an IBM PS/2, Microchannel machine. This has an IBM SCSI
interface on the motherboard. I'm using kernel 2.0.35.
