Acer 310s?

ok, i've seen some mention of the Acer 620s on here but not the 310s. i've
tried the snapscan backend for the 620, however i have had little success.
both my card and scanner are recognized, but when i scan the resultant
image is unrecognizable. when viewing a preview sometimes part of the
image (near the top) can be recognized, but then it degrades and becomes a
complete mess. even when i can see part of the preview the final image is
unrecognizable. i'm using redhat 5.2 with kernel 2.2.12 and have tried
scanimage, xscanimage, xsane, all with the same result. if there is
another backend i should be trying or if anyone has other suggestions i'd
be interested in hearing them. thanks,
