USB Support for HP Scanner

Hi all,

I'm new to this list and I'm looking for some help/info/assistance for USB
hp scanners. I've retrieved the SCL document from HP and read through
portions of it that are related to SCL itself and USB.

As for me, I'm currently involved in developing a USB driver for hp
scanners with the Linux USB effort (http://www.linux-usb.org). If anyone
else is aware of any other envolvement/development, I'd like to hear about
it. I've got the framework for the driver down but the scanner is not
responding. Not even if I send a SCL reset code.

Does anyone have any specific knowledge regarding any special
initialization sequence for USB hp scanners (other than the standard USB
initialization)? I've signed up (once again) for HP support and I'm
waiting to see if I'll be accepted or denied. The first go-around I was
denied but someone else was accepted. Since then HP has re-org'ed and all
accounts reset, so we'll see what happens this time.

My goal is to eventually have support so that SANE will be able to access
such devices possibly using the 'connect-device' option in hp.conf. I do
see usb in sane-1.0.1 (though not supported) and so I'm curious as to the
current level of support and status.

Also, if anyone is familiar with windows 98 and usb, does there exist what
I call a 'wedge driver' that logs to a file all the data going to/from the
usb subsystem?

Thanks,
/\/elson
