Hi,
I have been using the Microtek Scanmaker V6USL with sane-1.0.1, xsane
and the gimp for several months. That the V6USL works at all is due
to the modifications made by Bernd Schroeder to his microtek backend.
I have installed his latest patch. My system is an SGI Indigo Elan
running IRIX 6.5.3.

The V6USL should work fine. Being a novice myself, I do not see a
solution to your problem. Bernd is the one who can put you on the
correct course.
