In a way, I find this encouraging, since you're using the 'mainstream'
1.0.1, not the OS/2 port. Could there still be a bug in the Microtek
backend?

Can you correlate that with what the scanner's doing at that point, for
example, does this happen at the same time you hear a "brief, high-pitched
whine"?

How does it end? On the E3, it seems to be "command 0x1b" (start/stop
scan, in its start form) that fails.

What's the most recent file-date in mtekscan 0.2? Can you point me to an
ftp site for it? (AFAIK the most recent version of mtekscan that's been
ported to OS/2 is based on code that dates from Sept 1997 - and doesn't work
with *either* my E3 or the II-G.
