There isn't any microcontroller on the scanner.
The ScanExpress 12000P contains the following ICs:
Mustek MA1505P ASIC which controls the scanner and
transfers data using the parallel protocol.
WM8144-12 Integrated 12-bit data acquisition IC for
imaging applications from Wolfson Microelectronics
NEC D431000AGW-70LL 128k x 8 70ns DRAM
Winbond W24257AS-35 32k x 8 SRAM
Sanyo LB1233 High voltage large current Darlington Transistor
Array to drive stepper motor.
