Hi Matteo,

from below I see that you are using Linux 2.0.35 with Adaptec AIC-7850
SCSI-card and Linux 2.0.30 with Adaptec AHA 1740 and you told that both
Linuxes are crashing about once a day when sane or hpscanpbm are
running.
Since it does not happen all times, I suppose it is a SCSI problem.
Maybe someone here in the SANE list knows about problems with these
SCSI cards ? Or is someone using them successfully with HP scanners ?
