I downloaded pre-1.01 in the hope that most microtek fixes would
already be in it.
It configured just fine. It built just fine. At install time I
got these messages, do they mean anything?

libsane.a and libsane.so are installed -- what's the .la suffix??
I got the notorious AVA card with my scanner so I expect some scsi
fun... I'm not a driver- or even much of a C-hacker so if I can get
SANE to work with this scanner then it will really be "Now Easy" :-)
cheers, and thanks to all the SANE folks for their hard work, making
a useful peripheral family available to Linux users.
